Sim Crawcour Pty Ltd currently employs 11 people, which includes sales, marketing and office staff including in-house accountant and graphic artist, printers, embroiders and storeroom staff. It hopes to increase this when tourism is able to return. But it has been able to use the COVID emergency to some extent to start a new venture.
"When the pandemic first hit, we wanted to ensure we could keep as many staff employed as we could," Mr Sandor said. "Many hours of brain storming, designing and planning over Zoom meetings later our child business, Graphic Tees Australia was born, and we entered the world of ecommerce. "Graphic Tees Australia now proudly supports and hosts collections for 47 animal rescue groups, charities, sporting groups and artists.
"We also have our own exclusive clothing and outerwear brand called Southern Habitat which allows us to offer very competitive pricing. "We have an unlimited possibility of merchandise that we can source for any business and will work with the client on custom artwork until they are 100% happy."
The company's services include custom artwork, direct-to-garment printing, sublimation printing, heat transfer printing, embroidery, laser-engraving, product sourcing and manufacturing.
Tradition
It remains an industry leader due to its long-term supplier relationships throughout Australia as well as overseas. Mr Sandor is particularly proud of the company's family tradition. "It's a third generation business that was started 95 years ago by my grandfather, Simon Crawcour, purely as a manufacturer's agent."
"My grandfather was an amazing person and an incredible sales person that everyone got along with. This industry combined with his ability to create lasting relationships was right up his alley. "When my father came in-to the business in the 1950s, he expanded it by introducing importing and wholesaling of mainly giftware. "I started as a part-time storeman, then a salesman, to general manager and then 36 years later as the managing director. "We are excited to keep the business running as a family owned and operated Tasmanian business now onto the four generation with my daughter, Zoe.
"Our customers choose us and create long-term relationships due to us being a family owned and operated business with many unique offerings. Tasmania is a truly amazing and unique place to live. We are passionate about supporting and promoting other local businesses that keeps money and jobs in our state," Mr Sandor said.
]]>We all know how it can go when given a promotional product by a brand. If it’s a good pen, it might last in our desk for years, or if we’re a little luckier, a magnet that stays on our fridge. When it comes to finding promotional products that stand out from the rest, it can seem like a challenge, even for those getting gifted the item. For businesses, it can be even trickier trying to find new and interesting ways to captivate our clients, create good relationships with them, all whilst making sure the products we use have a lasting impression and are good quality. Stress no longer, because with our list of 5 unique promotional products, you will find your next marketing material in no time.
1. Headwear & Hats
Personalised caps are certainly a staple personalised marketing item, and our range are sure great, but have you considered alternative headwear? A string straw hat might be the perfect promotional product for your summer-based business, or a beanie for those needing a warmer option.
Our Acrylic Beanie with PomPom comes in three different colours, allowing you to match your branding perfectly. Get your logo or branding embroidered, and you have promotional merchandise that will be used and seen consistently throughout the colder seasons. If you’re a brand that services cooler areas (such as the snow or ski fields), this a fantastic way to get your brand out there.
2. Wooden Coasters
Coasters are also a common promotional product that businesses like to utilise – but forget the plastic or one-use coasters. At Sim Crawcour, you can choose between a dye sublimated coaster, perfect for those wanting a full colour image coaster, or a premium wooden, laser-engraved personalised coaster.
When you want a coaster with flair, you can’t go past the wooden, laser-engraved coaster. With your brand or company logo cut into the wood by our in-house design team, and our state-of-the-art laser-engraving machine, you’ll make a lasting impression with a promotional product your clients will want to use again and again.
3. Photo Frame
If you’re an experience or service-based business, your clients might be inclined to commemorate their experience with a selfie or photo. Make that experience even more special for them with a personalised photo frame.
And not just any photo frame – a long-lasting, premium frame made from wood, and engraved with your logo. Whether you’re in the tourism industry, or you want your clients to keep the memory of your work forever, or even as a corporate gift, a photo frame might be the perfect unique choice for your business.
4. Apron & Tea Towels
Your foodie loving clients will always remember you when you gift them something for the kitchen. Forget the mugs, it’s time to branch out and get them cooking. Whether you opt for a tea towel, or maybe a personalised apron, these unique products that will be used a lot might just be perfect for your food-based business.
Our tea towels are 100% cotton and have enough space to let you print custom designs, or simply have a logo or brand name. Direct to garment printing is available for our tea towels, giving you a variety of colour and style options to make them uniquely yours.
5. Polar Fleece Blanket
Are you a sponsor for an event? Have a buyer who just moved into their new house and you’d like to give them something extra? Or just want to leave a lasting impression? Personalised blankets make a truly unique personalised promotional product.
Keep clients warm with our custom Polar Fleece Blanket. With three different colours to choose from, you can get your logo or branding image embroidered or digitally printed onto your own blankets. Blankets are a practical, and reusable promotional product, which is always so important when creating marketing merchandise that ensure your brand is remembered.

1. One great way that you can build a new revenue stream in the tourism industry is to produce your own range of promotional products. People are buying more and more items online so why not get involved in the market. Produce a range of custom clothing, a stationary package, reusable coffee cups, branded headwear or other items that not only promote your service but that people actually want to buy. Get your range online with selling platforms like eBay and Facebook Marketplace and get your product range out there.
2. Generate a packaged product range that you can offer as a special deal. Get back in touch with existing customers (through social media or email) and offer them a new deal. Use local suppliers of products (e.g. gift stores/retail stores/food suppliers/travel suppliers) and package up a “special” deal that gives people not only value for many but more importantly, a reminder of your services and what you can offer.
3. Another thing you could look at is to give an incentive to your customers. Too many businesses focus on discounts which is negative to cash flow. For example, rather than giving a 10% discount - which is lost money why not give them a $10 cash back offer on their next spend within your business.
4. When it comes to promotional merchandise, why not build a new revenue stream in the tourism industry by offering a quality promotional item. A high quality hoodie or premium cap that generates increased brand awareness, while also providing a functional item the customer uses and loves. Look at ways to improve the design or overall feel of the product to increase perceived value. At Sim Crawcour we can help you with sourcing and creating high quality products to promote your brand.
5. The final way that you can build a new revenue stream in the tourism industry is to look for local community groups that you pay a small percentage to for every customer that uses your product or service. People are happy to spend a little bit more for a service or product if they know a small percentage goes back to a local sporting club or charity. It also gives an incentive to the people in those clubs and charities to use and promote your product or service.
At Sim Crawcour (www.simcrawcour.com.au) we produce a huge range of quality products that can help to generate a new revenue stream for your tourism business. No matter what your needs may be, we offer obligation-free quotes as well as custom artwork from our in-house design team.
